Melbury Bubb is a small village, with a population of approximately 40 people. It is situated 7 miles south of Sherborne.

The parish church of St Mary has a C15th tower but the rest of the building was largely rebuilt in a C19th restoration. In the winter the church is heated by log-burningng stove.
